Not especially happy with the colours on the face and I need to to put another layer of distress ink on the background....ho hum...
Welcome to my blog!
From x stitch I moved into card making - now I am playing around with mixed media! I am taking part in different workshops and with help from crafty pals, learning about different mediums and techniques. Hope you feel inspired to create after a visit to my blog - Happy Crafting!

Art Challenge: Writing
Journal Prompt: Words with Friends
I saw this idea on a tutorial by Effy Wild - I wrote a letter to my best friend who unfortunately passed away from leukemia several years ago. I wrote in watercolour pencil and the gesso'd over it to cover/smear the writing.
I had some offcuts of Tim Holtz tissue paper lying around so used matte medium to stick them down and scribbled with my neocolour crayons.
I added more scribbles and added water then scraped some white paint around to push the colour back.
I added stamps, circles and a tag with 'Just Listen' on it as sometimes the biggest part of being a friend is doing just that.
Hope you are well and the weather isn't too bad where you are!

I think because I took the picture in artificial light it has made it look quite washed out - IRL it looks more vibrant!
I circled the word opportunity as it is my word of the year, and underlined begin as it links to the prompt. There is a gesso wash in the background but in this picture it looks really white!
Hope you are getting inky this weekend!

Moonshine - Waxing Moon
This page started off with book pages - they are at the bottom of the page and the tree is made up of them, The waxing moon in November means regeneration and so I have added the word regenerate.
Hope you are being crafty this weekend!

Art Challenge: Book Paper
Journal Prompt: Be Your Own Goal Keeper
I used my small dylusions journal as I have not worked in my large one and it seemed a bit intimidating!
I have used book pages, paper washi tape, tissue paper, tag, notebook page and Christy Tomlinson tissue paper.
Goals - art more, stress less.....here's hoping!

November Full Moon
Drawn in pencil then a tortillon (?spelling) used to smudge and get rid of harsh lines. Some watercolour used to add a hint of colour.

November Ivy Moon (Moonshine)
I sketched out the leaves first of all and added my green aquatints to white paint. The colour was far to light so I added black and green aquatints to white paint and painted over them. I waited til they were dry to go over them with matte medium as I wanted to try a glaze but the mm changed the colour slightly again. I quite like the effect it had and it helps them look less 'flat'. As the glaze was a no go I used neocolour crayons in the background and did a bit of secondary stamping.
One step closer to finishing moonshine!

January Gratitude Journal Page
I decided to buy some canvas and bind my own journal. I wasn't sure how to decorate the outside so went for patchwork effect but not sure if I like it now.
I went over it with white to mute it but still may go over it and start again.
I started off with neocolours but the colours look quite muted in this pic. I used dylusions spray and a memory box stencil. Acrylic paint on a bottle lid and the leftover paint around the edges.
Hope you have had some chance to get crafty this weekend!
