December Rainbow Escape #4

This is my 4th entry for the Rainbow Escape set by Daisy Yellow

This is their prompt;
Use each color combination only once.... and each journaling technique only once. Match each color combination to a journaling technique. Work in any order. PICK A COLOR COMBINATION
  • Magenta & Scarlet
  • Scarlet & Orange
  • Orange & Yellow
  • Yellow & Green
  • Green & Turquoise
  • Turquoise & Indigo
  • Indigo & Purple
PICK A TECHNIQUE
  • Mind Map or Brainstorm
  • Top Ten List
  • Quote or Lyrics
  • Patterns & Doodles
  • Alphabet Stamps, Stencil or Invent-a-Font
  • Write a Poem/Haiku *or* Use Found Poetry {Cut Words from Magazines}
  • Fancy Hand-Lettering Using a Calligraphy Pen, Brush Marker or Fine-Nibbed Marker

For this page I chose Magenta and Scarlet and the technique is to write a haiku.

A haiku is a japanese poem that is 3 sentences, there are lots of different explanations on how they should be written. I picked the suggestion that it should be a poignant experience and it should have 2 juxtaposed ideas. There is a also a suggestion that it should have a 5-7-5 word limit but I have not managed to do that.

For the base colours I used derwent inktense blocks. I then used a mix of memento, distress and stampin up inks.

I used a range of background stamps and alphabet stamps for the words.

Hope you are all finding time to craft!

Dog of the Week

Can anyone give Izzy a second chance ?

Sadly Izzy has returned to Kennels after living in a home for 14 months during her time in a home she was very clean and has been described as brilliant with children - Izzy has a happy loving nature but she does not like domestic dogs    It is felt that the children need to be over the age of 10 years Izzy would also need to be homed with somebody who is around during the day or with another greyhound

December Rainbow Escape #3

Colours are scarlet and orange and the theme is top ten list (Reasons to be cheerful )

Background is dylusion sprays and stamps  - I used the same spray on a piece of design paper and tore those up. I wrote my list on the paper in black and shimmer copic atyou pens. I then overstamped with a mix of stamps.

Hope your Sunday night lasts as long as you want it to!

Happy Birthday (watercolours)

I can post this now as I know the recipient has received it!

I used the smackin acetate technique - but with an acrylic block. I put zig watercolour markers on the block , spritzed with water and stamped on to watercolour paper.

I then used my Penny Black  flying stars stamp with black embossing powder for the main image.

Hope your weekend is going well

December Rainbow Escape # 2

which is set by Daisy Yellow

For this page I have chosen Indigo and Purple for the colours and the theme is Lyrics.

I used dylusion sprays and stamps for the background and then used my Tim Holtz skeleton stamp and octopode skeleton heads.

The lyrics are Blink 182 but mention Jack and Sally from the nightmare before Christmas which is one of my favourite films.

Journal page and a moan

I can't tell you how much I hate this page or how many layers it has - even though I struggle with layering, why create a lovely page and then cover it up? - it has so many layers as I hated it but everytime I put another layer on it looked worse!

There is acrylic paint, sprays, gesso... it seems that a lot of sprays (october challenge, cosmic shimmer mists) flick ink everywhere when you pull the lid off - luckily it hasn't stained anything or anywhere yet but what a pain!

I decided I couldn't make it any worse so I used some ugly paper (paper from card stack which I didn't like - there is usually one) sprayed and stencilled and background stamped it. Then I stamped my sentiment.

It reads - try - it doesn't have to be perfect - just try. Thought it suited this page!

I am now on my 3rd week of being off work ill with a viral infection. I KNOW there are some people at work who will think it's the same as being on holiday but it really isn't! Although those same people will drag themselves in and infect everyone else...

I have to say I'm getting pretty fed up of it - haven't really got the energy to get much done, including crafting so I'm hoping it's on it's way out and I will be back to normal soon

Hope your week is going well and you are not poorly !
