Book of Days - Choice is Beauty/Beauty is Choice

I used a stabilo pencil to draw this girl then took a wet paintbrush to it. This gives a charcoal effect.

I used claudine hellmuth paint for her hair and distress paint dabber for the background. I used gelatos for the blush on her cheeks.

Mother's Day Magic

I really struggled with this card - after getting into art journalling I really didn't want to have to colour an image in. Luckily my crafty pal Kathy taught me the bokeh technique whilst we were away at craftathon.

I smooshed some distress inks on my craft sheet and spritzed with water. I wiped up the ink with my card and dried it with my heat gun. I then inked through the stencil with the same colour ink but more concentrated. I then stamped over the stencilling.

I then used pearl acrylic paint to stencil again. I had to use memento ink for the image as the archival would not stamp well over the paint - it as really faint and in places hardly came out at all.
I matted with black card and added a sentiment to the bottom.

For Mother's Day me and my sister took my Mum out for afternoon tea and shopping - we had a lovely day :)

Hope your week is going well

Craft Shopping

Yesterday myself and blogging buddy Kathy met in Wantage as unfortunately the stamp attic is closing down. After we had done several laps around the shop making sure we had checked EVERYTHING out we made our purchases.

We went to the Wildwood Cafe for a lovely meal - it looks bigger on the inside and it has a cinema room upstairs!

Kathy has more pix on her blog - we wandered through Wantage and found a fabulous book shop where we picked up the sheet music.

It was a lovely day shopping and the sun was shining - perfect way to spend a Sturday.

DLP Week 9

February Theme
Layers You Will Love!
February 28
Art Challenge:  Using at Least Five Layers
Journal Prompt:  Give Me a  High Five

I needed at least 5 layers and by chance the next page in my journal had ink from a stencil on another page.

I went in with some paint.

I then used some paper towels that had been used to clean up, and scribbled in a few places.

I then went in with some washi tape.

Added some grafitti font, some neon fabric paint and my glittery modelling paste.

Hope your week is going well

Book of Days - Animal Medicine

Week 6 Book of Days is animal medicine and I chose a killer whale. I printed it off and went around it with my stabilo black pencil. Some of the colours seeped through from underneath when I glued it with matt medium but I don't mind.

I picked a couple of words from the animal medicine meaning of the whale which are spirituality and soul mates. The black ink didn't come out very dark so I went around the outline with a sharpie.

March Gratitude Pages

I am doing another yearly gratitude journal and these are my pages for March.

I used my new Claudine Hellmuth (?sp) and my new stencil with modelling paste.

I have quite a lot of patterned paper that I need to use so I found a blue one and scraped some gesso over it to push the colour back.

Hope your weekend is going well.
