Welcome to my blog!

From x stitch I moved into card making - now I am playing around with mixed media! I am taking part in different workshops and with help from crafty pals, learning about different mediums and techniques. Hope you feel inspired to create after a visit to my blog - Happy Crafting!

Layers You Will Love!
February 21
Art Challenge:  Repeating Elements
Journal Prompt:  It's Worth Repeating

This page also started off with the 'bokeh' technique. As the challenge was repeating elements I added blue acrylic circles, a dot stencil and circle stamps. For a slight contrast I used glitter modelling paste through a wave stencil.

Shoebox Project

We all took along a shoebox project along to craftathon - something you could make in 1/2 hr. I decided to take along my spectrum noir aquatints so people could have a play.

It reads 'believe you deserve to be happy sweetie pie'. The background is aquatint mixed with water.

This one was mixed with gesso.

and this one was mixed with metallic silver.

I really should use them more - especially on journal pages!

Art Challenge:  Cover Up Good Stuff
Journal Prompt:  Going Undercover

This page was a 'bokeh' technique that I made at craftathon - it was the lovely Kathy's shoebox project for us all to try.

I decided to use this as my DLP project and set about covering it up - but not too much!!

I sprayed with turquoise and fuschia dylusions, added some stamping and mixed some modelling paste with a Claudine Hellmuth paint.

Do you cover up any of your good stuff?

Craftathon 2015 (picture heavy post)

This last weekend was spent in Rotherham for Craftathon 2015 hosted by the lovely Nicola. Craftathon is a yearly meet of like minded crafters who meet up and craft!...and drink, eat and be merry.

Our main project was a mask storage unit. I forget to take a picture of the kit but it was basically mdf pieces.

This is the unit after 'gessoing' and I was doing patchwork paper on the side.

This is the finished unit - I used a Tim Holtz key for the handle, I painted the inside and edges with copper paint then added gold gilding wax.

These are all the finished projects. I love how they all end up so different.

2 of our crafty bunch brought their 'shops' with them, so it would have been rude not to buy something...

I also stopped at the range with a few others on the way home.

Hope you all had a crafty weekend too!!

Book of Days - Longing

See post below if you want to see how she started out :)

She is called Longing and I wrote my rant along the outline - it basically explains explains that I an longing for the drama to stop - after a phone call about my niece and she wrote something on facebook that one side of the family didn't like that resulted in lots of arguments and angry phone calls.....I am so BORED of people creating drama!

and the comment - along the lines of 'thanks to my Mum for her help over the past couple of months'

hoping you are not experiencing this kind of rubbish and having a calm serene weekend

Just in case it doesn't get any better than this....

I thought I should take a pic of my outline of a face. I sketched it first with a white stabilo all and then went over with a black marker which smudged when I put the gesso in..

I will be painting her with flesh tones so it doesn't matter too much. I decided to give myself a break from my my small dylusions and strathmore journals as I struggle to do faces but I think it's even harder when they are tiny.

I tore the pages out of a watercolour pad and hole punched them. I used the back pieces as protecters and smeared paint all over them. I plan to do something arty with them but so far that just means stamping and colouring stamps :)

Hope you have a crafty weekend planned

DLP Week 5

January Theme
The Blank Page and How to Face It!
January 31
Art Challenge:  Under Paper (paper on your work table that gets all inky while you work)
Journal Prompt:  What Lies Beneath?

I had a piece of under paper I had been testing stamps and cleaning my palette knife on.

I tore off the bit I wanted and stuck it in my journal. I put some neocolour crayon around the edges and used the top of a shot glass for the circles.

Done!

February Gratitude Page

I used dylusions, stamping and modelling paste mixed with acrylic paint. I know at least 2 of my crafty pals are glad that January is over - what are you grateful for?

Finally finished - cover of 2014 gratitude journal

There are lots of layers on paint under this - I finally used some Tim Holtz tissue paper over the top and added some paint and stamping.

That's one thing off the unfinished list - is there anything you have finished this month?
