Welcome to my blog!

From x stitch I moved into card making - now I am playing around with mixed media! I am taking part in different workshops and with help from crafty pals, learning about different mediums and techniques. Hope you feel inspired to create after a visit to my blog - Happy Crafting!

UFO (unfinished object) shaming

Trying to shame myself into finishing projects that I have started and not yet finished...

This piece was started at LEAST 8 years ago....maybe closer to 10, so I really need to get this finished.

This is a disney princess sampler which I have had for at least 6 years but possibly didn't start it that long ago.

This one was started about 2 years ago and is a lapframe which is tucked away in my craft room which is why I forgot about it.

Hopefully I will be a bit more organised with my time and make some progress on these pieces.

Bitten by the stitching bug again...

I recently started getting into my x stitch again - mainly due to instagram as there as so many posts of lovely pieces of work and progress pix.

I have lots of fabric and felt and threads....

and decided I need to start using them up. As I have quite a lot of red felt I may make some crimble decorations. I also have a few bell pulls so will do a crimble one and probably a halloween one as I have some purple felt too.

I recently did a card for my niece and have decided to do 3 pieces for my Mum for her birthday (if I finish in time).

This is the first piece - I changed it slightly and added some metallic threads to the butterfly. I also changed the frame to silver metallic thread (metallic thread is made in hell and sent to try us all as it shreds all the time!!!) as my Mum is decorating her bedroom in lilac and silver. I have a few silver photo frames so hopefully it will finish the pieces off nicely.

Hope you are finding time to craft :)

Birthday Wishes

I started off with a masterboard - made with rich colours and brayered on (courtesy of Leandra's background videos for Paperartsy). I then dyed some cheesecloth and attached that.

I painted a chipboard letter in this gorgeous red and added some glass bead glitter gel.

I added printed sentiments backed on to cheesecloth again.

Happy Birthday ladies - hope you both had a fabulous day!

Just a little card to Jan to say thank you for hosting Craftathon and for opening her home to us all.

Looking forward to Craftathon 2017 already!!

Its finally here!!!!! Craftathon 2016!!!!

Wohooo!!

Regular followers of my blog may remember that every year I meet up with a bunch of crafty pals and we craft together! There is also lots of eating/drinking and merriment.

This year Jan is hosting in Grimsby and has very kindly turned her conservatory into 'the craftery' so we can craft to our hearts content (we usually book a hall). Jan has organised our main project

it's called a hatton box and can be decorated however we see fit.

We also bring shoebox projects - these are smaller projects and the idea is you bring enough for everyone with hints of what will be needed to make/decorate it.

This is my shoebox project.

I gesso'd it and then used distress ink on deli paper to cover it.

I used tissue tape and washi tape around the edges.

I added a strip of card that I had embossed and sprayed to the smaller book and added the metal corners.

I added some text stamping and on the larger book added a piece of cardboard with metallic paint. I used some chipboard pieces added some paint and then crackle glazed it.

Hope you are all having a good weekend - I know I will be!

Journal 52 - Week 13

Happy Friday/1st of April/April Fools Day!

In about an hour I will be on my way to Grimsby to meet up with our merry band of crafters for this years craftathon. I will try and remember to take pics/instagram to show you what a blast we have :)

Anyway..today's post...

Out of order again as I haven't done week 11 or 12...ho hum

Week #13
Alternate Prompt “Lyrics”
Create a spread inspired by the lyrics of a song that you are loving lately.

This was REALLY HARD - my fave song varies from morning to afternoon never mind from one day to the next..in the end I just went through my ipod....

In case you don't recognize it, its Be Mine by David Gray -- whatever happened to him ??

This page was created with modelling paste then gelatos sprayed to make them drip, I then used dylusions paints through a stencil.

Hope you all have a great weekend - I will be back with another project tomorrow!
