Welcome to my blog!

From x stitch I moved into card making - now I am playing around with mixed media! I am taking part in different workshops and with help from crafty pals, learning about different mediums and techniques. Hope you feel inspired to create after a visit to my blog - Happy Crafting!

DLP - Cry me a river

April Theme
Color Safari (Exploring Inks and Paints)
April 11
Art Challenge:  Acrylics
Journal Prompt:  Cry Me a River

It reads 'Life sometimes takes you into troubled waters - not to drown you but to cleanse you'.

I used my dylusion paints for the background. I used gesso and silver modelling paste for the drops then versamark with perfect pearls for the bubbles. I went around the edges with my checkboard stamp.

Long time no post!!!

Things have been really busy and we had to rush off back home as my stepdad had a stroke. He seems to be doing better, he has his movement back and is mobilising.

Anyway I stumbled across this fabulous art journaller Nika and was inspired to make these....

It's a mix of gelatos, dylusion paints and modelling paste. I made the heart mask myself.

Whilst I had my paints out I played around a bit more and used a couple of images kindly given to me by Catherine at craftathon.

Playing around

I had cleaned my mini blending tool that had dylusion paints on, onto another page in my journal like I had seen Dyan do.

I then used the black paint through a stencil over the top - simple page quickly done!

Just playing around with my dylusion paints

hmm photo doesn't do the picture justice really!

DLP Week 11

March Theme
Making Your Mark (Doodles & Mark Making)
March 14
Art Challenge:  Borders
Journal Prompt:  "Borderline feels like I'm going to lose my mind."

I started off with a gesso'd page and used my neocolour crayons.

I did some doodling, added some washi tape and stamped my sentiment....

of course ANYONE who has a dylusions journal (except me) will realise by looking at that picture that the sentiment is upside down...

must have happened whilst I was stamping - and yes the irony isn't lost on me!!

Happy Good Friday

Book of Days Week 11

I have skipped ahead to week 11 - I'm not sure that I will do week 8/9 and I can't decide on my favourite song for week 10.

Week 11 was entitled boundaries and was about people overstepping what is deemed as acceptable and making personal comments/judgements about others.

It made me think about a comment that someone told me another person had said about me.. it wasn't particularly cruel/nasty just a trait I didn't identify with. I spent far too much time dwelling on it and being affected by it.

I started off by getting it off my chest - writing with neocolour crayon on top of watercolour paper coated with gesso. (words pixelated out)

I went over with more neocolour and used a wet brush to blend it out.

I then brayered hot pink and metallic blue paint over the top.

I saw this quote on pinterest and it really resonated with me. I went around the lettering with copic spica pens which are lovely and glittery. I added some white highlights and some stamping.

Catherine led me to a new mixed media challenge called stamps and stencils so I have decided to enter my make into their first challenge, which is anything goes.

Hope you all have some crafty plans for the weekend

April Gratitude Page

I started out with panpastels and then stamped with similar colours.

I then used one of many patterned papers but gave it a light blue wash.

Yesterdays gratitude entry - having time to paint my nails (this also equates to not being in work as you cannot wear nail polish to work)

I think I need to get out more........

or maybe we should all be grateful for the little things :)
