Welcome to my blog!

From x stitch I moved into card making - now I am playing around with mixed media! I am taking part in different workshops and with help from crafty pals, learning about different mediums and techniques. Hope you feel inspired to create after a visit to my blog - Happy Crafting!

A New Door....

As I have been getting more into art journalling I decided to sign up for Effy Wild's Moonshine. I looked at Life Book and Book of Days but Moonshine really appealed to me.

We started off with a doorway - I printed mine off as I don't have any stencils/stamps that would do. The background is dylusions sprays overstamped with dylusions stamps.

I did try and centre my writing by starting with the middle letter but the last word really is wonky and uncentred!

This lovely lady is by Lavinia.

Also dylusions sprays.

I haven't had much chance to craft this week and we are away visiting in laws for a birthday so hopefully will get a chance this week.

Happy Weekend All!!

Dog of The Week

This is Mo!

Mo is a little girl who would need that special some one to give her the time that she needs to find her confidence - her Trainer has described her as being nervous/timid/very shy but with a good temperament - Mo has had 108 Races and last raced at Oxford in June 2012

Mo has not been tested with domestic dogs or cats

If you can offer this lovely girl a home please visit here

Dog of the Week

This is Bob

Bob is a very good looking boy with a happy loving nature - he is very clean within the Kennels - has only had 5 Races and last raced on the 08.06.2013 - Bob has not been tested with domestic dogs or cats

Bob is very strong on the lead and it is thought he would be better suited to a family where the main walker would be a strong male as it is thought that Bob would be too strong on the lead for a female

Junk Journal Make

This is my 2nd make  - I started with a piece of cardboard from the back of a pad. I used gesso and then an inktense block with water.

I used feather stamps for a border and varied  versafine, memento and SU inks for different colours. I added a couple of wings. I used an alphabet block stamp on a coloured background which is an off cut from a smackin acetate piece.

The net over the top is stapled in place, it came from a bouquet of flowers my lovely Sis bought me. The fluffy string was attached to a thank you note which I received with an order from a craft company but I can't remember which.

I have decided to send this to a friend who has been unwell and played around with some stamps so it would be happy mail :)

Hope you all have a nice crafty week planned!

Journal 52 - Week 1 - Up Up and Away!

I started with a sheet of Kraft out of my Journal and painted it with blue acrylic paint - I then brayered white paint over it.

I used 2 of my new Kaisercraft background stamps* (harlequin and bubble wrap) for background and used my matching Kaisercraft stamp set and rub ons. I stamped some of the images onto tissue paper and glued them down with matte medium.

It's a free workshop and it already has over 2000 members!

* I met Kathy at Snazzy's - I missed our workshop there as I was ill so Kathy kindly kept my materials for me and I got a £15 voucher for my next workshop. The lovely Val made us hot drinks whilst we perused and we bought some newly shipped in Kaisercrafts - Kathy bought more stamps than me - she used one on a recent make and I'm wondering if I should have bought it too!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend!

Gratitude Journal

I saw a 'bookbinding' tutorial on one of Effy Wild's lessons and put together a journal made out of watercolour paper. I put together a gratitude journal to make me think, every day, about what I am grateful for.

As this wasn't 'for anyone' I decided to just mess around with the pages - I used gelato's then water then a bit of gesso over the top. I then did some stamping on tissue paper and stuck it down with matte medium.

For this page I used some inktense blocks, then washi tape then stamped on some kitchen roll and stuck it down with matte medium again. I can try different techniques and it doesn't matter if it's not perfect as it's a journal for me :)

For the tags I dragged some new hero arts ink stamps across them and then used punches on scraps of paper for the days.

Hope your weekend is going well!

Dog of the Week

This is Lordy!

Lordy has been described as having a very loving nature - he last raced in January 2013 having had 100 + Races - Lordy would need a home with older children or adults only - this is recommended as when he is feeding he needs to be left alone - no interruptions in other words he is "food orientated"

Lordy has not been tested with domestic dogs or cats

If you can offer this lovely boy a home please visit here

My first junk journal and my word for the year..

Picture (and maybe word) heavy post!!

The lovely Clare has set up a Junk Journal group on her blog and a private group on Facebook. This is my page which started off like this....

I then used a vermillion green acrylic paint to cover it and used more paint through stencils

I used some gelato's around the edges and started stamping

The words were still quite obvious so I put some washi tape down then stamped my new octopode 'doll head' stamp on tissue paper and stuck it down with matte medium.

Close up....

I then took some tags and used gelato's and dylusion sprays. I used a white sharpie to draw the numbers on.

I put the numbers on both sides so it wouldn't matter if the tags flipped over.

The hearts in the top right corner are self made stamps made by Clare :)

This is the other side of the page - painted the same as the front but with my word of the year 'sharpie'd' on!

My word is CHOICE. Last year I had exams and case studies and reflective diaries and much more to do.. it completely took over all of my time, we also moved house so I felt I had no free time to do anything I wanted to do.

I worked on a word based journal page a few nights ago and thought about words for 2014 - funnily enough choice wasn't one of them but the other words on the page were.

As well as signing up to Clare's junk journal I also signed up to Effy Wild's Moonshine 2014 - mix of painting and art journalling - I CHOSE to sign up to these and am also keeping an eye on a few other art journalling blogs/prompts.

What are your choices for 2014? and what's your word?

Dog of the Week

This is the lovely Lodge!

Lodge is a good looking Brindle boy - he has been described as a happy dog with a loving nature - Lodge can come across as a little boisterous when you first meet him and can be a little strong on the lead but with a firm hand this will soon disappear

Lodge has only had 29 races U.K. and Eire he last raced at Poole in December 2012   -  Lodge is definitely a boy to consider when checking out the dogs available for homing
