Fairy Bubbles

Thanks to my crafty pals I have been trying some mixed media projects and recently bought some pastels to have a go with. I have used pan pastels at our craftathon but thought I would get the (much) cheaper version. It's such a quick way to get background colour. I gesso'd a piece of card and used greens and blues over it and then stamped on top. I used a mix of inks - the versafine were ok but the memento's were not too happy.

I used this lovely Lavinia stamp as our group's challenge this month is Bubbles as sadly CraftBubble (our crafting forum) closed it's doors. Our rather the moderators (Origin) stopped giving a toss about it months and months ago and the site was so full of spammers it was ridiculous. They have encouraged us to join their other crafting forums where I'm guessing nobody moderates and they don't give a toss about anything apart from traffic/money from advertisers.

It's Friday...I don't care - if they had let the users moderate they wouldn't have had any of the problems they did...Anyway - it's now officially the weekend because our little alarm has just announced it..Happy Weekend Peeps!

I am entering this card into the following challenges;

Cute Card Thursday - Things with Wings
Creative Inspirations - Fairies

Out for a stroll near the lock

We watched some longboats go through the lock and it was really busy.

The Little Things Week 4

I know I have gone out of order but I was waiting for glossy accents to dry! This is the project for week 4 that Clare has organised for us.

We started off with a glass slide and stamped it with acrylic paints.

We used the bottle as a flower pot and put beads and glossy accents in to fix it in place. I used craft wire for the stem and to fasten the bottle to the slide - I also used a squirt of ga to fix it in place.

I used a stamp from one of my Lindsey Mason sets  - I love this flower as each petal has something different on it.

I still have the box for the swaps to go in and Clare has very kindly added a bonus video for us to make another little swap..it involves gesso and moss!

Happy Bank Holiday Monday!

The Little Things Week 5

Back with week 5 of our swop that Clare organised and is giving us tutorials for!

This started off as green! Couple of coats of gesso and then painted with acrylic paint.

The little hearts are Lavinia and the larger one is one that Clare made.

Gems and nailheads from stash, I mixed some glitter in with matte medium to seal it all.

Hope your Bank Holiday weekend is going well!

Smackin Acetate

Morning all - after being starved of crafting for far too long I spent a fair few hours in my craft room yesterday. I tried a new technique that Kathy told me about - smackin acetate. She posted this link to Mynette's blog where there is a video tutorial.

I used an acrylic block as I couldn't find any acetate big enough and used my zig art watercolour markers in a hue of different colours.

These are both from the same block - the one on the left was the first 'smack' with a light spritzing of water. After I had done that there was still plenty of ink on the block so gave a few more good spritzes and got the second one.

Stamps are Penny Black Flying Stars and Sparklers

I may be trying this technique again as I love the effect and have a few more cards I have to make.

Hope you are having a good Sunday"

I will be entering these cards into the following challenges;

PanPastel - Create your own background
Hobby Cutz Challenges - Create your own background
Technique Time Tuesday - Smackin Acetate Challenge
Penny Black and More - In the Garden
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Bright and Sunny

The Little Things #2

I am taking part in a summer time swap organised by Clare called The Little Things. The idea is make small swap materials (following Clare's tutorials) and we have a small box that everything will fit in for the swap.

Unfortunately I have fallen behind a bit as I have been MIA at home/on my blog, due to family illness. Everything is hopefully on the mend so I will try and catch up.

#2 is our cotton reel

I decorated a strip of watercolour card

I used gesso and versafine on the reel

I punched a flower and some small tags (there is a hidden message inside the strip)

I used a charm from the kit Clare supplied and tied it with a ribbon - I may try and find a lighter turquoise ribbon

I am entering my make into the following challenges;

Sister Act Card Challenge - Linky Party
Delightful Challenges - Anything but a Card
Make it Monday - Linky Party

Hope your Saturday is going well!

Bouncer has not been tested with domestic dogs or cats
